Parker Elementary will hold its annual Suzuki Workshop January 24-26.  This intensive instruction by guest violin and cello master teachers will culminate in a Suzuki Concert, 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, January 26th at Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft in Southwest Houston.  The Suzuki Concert will feature 190 Parker students, grades Kindergarten through 5th, playing string instruments.  The public is encouraged to attend and appreciate the amazing talent and education that unite at this neighborhood school.

The annual Parker Suzuki Violin and Cello Workshop provides three days of instruction by distinguished Suzuki trained master teachers from across the country.  Its purpose is to motivate and energize the students, parents, and strings faculty.  The concert preparations begin months before the workshop.  Each strings student, receiving a private lesson once per week and group lessons every day, work very hard to perfect their repertoire of Suzuki songs.  During the workshop, each student will receive daily private lessons in addition to their daily group lessons led by the distinguished guest teachers.  The concert features every Parker strings student, from beginning "Twinklers" to the most advanced.

The seven violin and four cello invited master teachers are all trained in the Suzuki method, many with their own private studios, all with a desire to teach children music.  The guest clinicians come from as far away as New York and Massachusetts, with many from around the state of Texas.  They choose to participate in this exclusive workshop because it is one of the very few public school Suzuki workshops in the nation.  They will kick off the workshop on Tuesday, January 23rd at 3 p.m. with a Master Teacher Concert for the strings students in the Parker Cafeteria.  Parents and the general public are welcome to attend this concert as well as the 6:30pm Friday evening concert at Westbury Baptist Church.
